We are your trusted partner in PET Bottle recycling! We are committed to making a positive impact on the environment by providing efficient and sustainable solutions for PET Bottle recycling. We understand the importance of recycling in preserving our planet and reducing waste, and we strive to be at the forefront of the recycling industry.
We are a producer responsibility organisation (PRO) conceived and registered in 2011 to focus on PET recycling as one of the measures to mitigate the environmental footprint of PET bottles. We are a product of collective effort by selected companies in the PET value chain to provide leadership in fighting PET pollution as part of Corporate Social Responsibility. The key principles at the centre of PETRECOZIM are extended producer responsibility (EPR), self-regulation (SR) and international best practice(IBP).
Tonnes Of PET diverted from landfills since 2014
Direct and indirect jobs created to waste pickers
Over 350 Million PET bottles recycled to date
Cubic meters of landfill space saved
PET bottles are collected and taken to a recycling plant with other recycleable materials. Collection is key as the industry has more recycling capacity than is currently used.
The PET bottles are separated
into their colour streams
and then converted into
flakes and pellets. Colour is important in downstream
process.
PET is extremely light weight and has a favorable distribution economics. However post consumer PET presents huge challenges in the transportation especially in loose form hence we collect we from the waste pickers although they can deliver on their own. We have also established 6 baling centres countrywide to facilitate landing and economic transportation.
Cleaned PET bottles are then shredded or ground into small flakes or granules. This step increases the surface area of the PET material, making it easier to process in subsequent stages.
With 14 years of experience in the recycling industry, we have developed a deep understanding of the complexities involved in PET Bottle recycling. Our team of experts is equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to handle the entire recycling process efficiently and effectively.
We have invested in cutting-edge recycling facilities that utilize advanced technologies to ensure the highest quality standards in the recycling process. Our recycling plant in Ardbennie is equipped with state-of-the-art sorting, cleaning, and processing equipment to adhere best quality of recycled materials.
We are driven by a strong commitment to environmental responsibility. By recycling PET Bottles, we contribute to reducing the demand for virgin plastic, conserving energy, and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions. Our recycling process follows strict environmental guidelines with ENVIROMENTAL MANAGEMENT AGENCY (EMA) to ensure a sustainable and eco-friendly approach. We have relevant EMA licenses and adhere to global best practices with ISO 9001:2015 Certification.
We believe that recycling should be accessible to all and should provide reliable income to our suppliers. We strongly believe that recycling is a potential vehicle for poverty alleviation. Over the last 10 years we have paid over USD 1 million to waste pickers for raw material supplied thereby positively impacting livelihoods for thousands of waste pickers (and their families and dependents) who are ordinarily marginalized and underprivileged.
We strongly believe in Inclusive Business and Collaborative within and across industries. We work with independent waste entrepreneurs across the country as agents and also invite other corporates to join us in the fight against plastic pollution as part of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
We believe that the community is a vital indispensable component in the fight against pollution. We organize awareness campaigns, educational programs, and community events to encourage individuals and businesses to join us in our mission to create a greener future.
